The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

達式常,鄭榕,顏彼得,王洪生,顧嵐,宋曉英,王玉梅,王志華,王洪濤,馬盛君,劉江,馬連驥,牛星麗,朱藝丹,辛欣,胡奇,李耀華,巢萍,王文祥,趙淑蘭,浦克1898年6月11日，光緒皇帝向全國頒布了"明定國是"詔書，中國近代史上轟轟烈烈的戊戌變法運動開始了。為了網羅天下英才，軍機處兩次拍電報催促譚嗣同火速進京。譚嗣同辭別了妻子李閏，踏上征途。途中，黃河兩岸餓殍滿地，哀鴻遍野的景象深深震動了譚嗣同，他更堅信只有變法才能救中國。與此同時，在頤和園的慈禧太后及心腹老臣們不動聲色地把輔佐皇上變法、為皇上保薦人才的軍機大臣翁同和撤了職，遣送回鄉。提升榮祿為直隸總督兼北洋大臣，把持兵權，統攝北洋三軍，給剛剛開始的變法維新一個警告和打擊。譚嗣同到京后，馬上受到光緒皇帝的召見。他橫溢的才思和無畏的膽識備受皇上贊賞。光緒皇帝激動地授予他四品章京銜，命他在軍機處供職，希望他成為中興之臣。革新志士康有為、楊深秀、林旭、劉光第等在得月樓設宴為譚嗣同洗塵。他們燭下長談，共謀維新大業。兵部侍郎袁世凱也前來拜訪譚嗣同，并獻五百兩銀子，對維新大業略表微衷。禮部尚書懷塔布扣押了主事王照奏請皇上游歷東西各國的折子，革新志士抓住了這件事，奏請皇上，撤了禮部六堂官懷塔布、許應骙等。光緒皇帝依靠譚嗣同、康有為變法圖強的決心，深深地震驚了以太后為首的封建專制勢力。此時，譚嗣同、康有為等準備乘勝追擊，奏請皇上開設懋勤殿，駕空昏庸老臣，實行朝鋼獨斷。太后和榮祿也頻頻來往，密室共議。他們一面調動軍隊做好防范，一面籌劃9月天津閱兵，準備到時廢掉皇上。新舊兩黨的斗爭達到白熱化。在這關鍵時刻，光緒皇帝遭到太后的軟禁，相知相愛的珍妃亦被打入冷宮。康有為、譚嗣同等了5天不見君面，只得到一道光緒設法傳出來的要他們設法相救的特諭。他們當時都驚愕不已，束手無策。譚嗣同突然想到兵部侍郎袁世凱，決定孤注一擲，夜訪法華寺，求助于袁世凱。看了皇上親筆手諭，袁世凱萬分震驚。他慷慨陳詞發誓要效犬馬之勞。但在打發下了譚嗣同后，袁世凱權衡利弊，最后，決定投靠太后，出賣了譚嗣同和維新大業。慈禧太后得到密報，連夜返回紫禁城，發動了震驚中外的戊戌政變，再度訓政。除康有為、梁啟超逃往國外外，革新志士紛紛被捕。譚嗣同謝絕了梁啟超、日本友人及好友大刀王五的誠懇相救，決心以一死來驚醒黎民百姓。譚嗣同的愛妻突然來到了北京，沒想到相聚竟是死別。殘燭前，夫妻凄然把酒相對。譚嗣同等6位維新派志士被押往菜市口刑場。譚嗣同為無力回天而感嘆，為死得其所而慰藉。他們把滿腔熱血噴灑在祖國的大地上。
