　　麥克是查普曼公司的一名職業經理人。平時的工作就是憑借其小時候主演的電視劇《與麥克在一起》而贏得的知名度來招募兒童演員，經過形象設計和專業表演指導后向需要制作廣告片的生產商推薦，然后按照比例收取費用維持公司的運行。為此，麥克的身邊聚集著一群各具特長的孩子。巴瑞就是這群孩子中的一位，只是巴瑞的傲慢使彼此之間的合作顯得并不默契。　　感恩節這天，麥克為一家火雞快餐店開張剪彩后，在大街上碰到了一個叫安吉的小姑娘。由于家庭的原因，安吉養成了偷竊的惡習。在看過安吉因再次行竊而被失主抓住的一番表演后，一種直覺告訴麥克，在安吉的身上有著其他孩子無與倫比的表演天賦。于是，麥克冒以父親的名義把安吉從圍觀的人群中解救出來，并達成了合作的協議。　　第二天，安吉帶著生活用品不請自到地住到了麥克臟亂不堪的家里。經過短暫的培訓后，麥克就把安吉推薦給了陽光燦爛餅業集團的老總柯可蘭先生。結果，安吉的表演不負眾望，廣告片的攝制也非常成功。就在麥可和搭檔埃德為安吉的成功欣喜不已時，由于安吉在文件上不真實的簽名引發了法律問題，已經攝制好的廣告片為此也不得播出。　　為了幫助安吉因家庭原因造成的心靈孤寂，麥可特意找到安吉的爸爸，并在圣誕節到來這天舉辦了一個別出心裁的聚會。麥克的真誠讓安吉無比的快樂，當安吉得知麥克賴以生存的查普曼公司因為巴瑞的“跳槽”而面臨破產時，安吉用孩子們自己的方法把巴瑞找了回來，一群天真快樂的孩子終于又得以能和麥克在一起。
